I just got off the phone with one of my best mates. His name is Nate and he is a key leader at Newport Church in Newport Beach California. Nate and I have been friends for years. 3 years ago we moved to Sydney to start bible college at Hillsong International Leadership College. Nate did one year at college and then hooked up with this church plant while being at Hillsong and now plays a pivotal role in building Newport Church. I, however, am still at Hillsong and loving every minute of it.
Nate and I basically did everything together back on stomping grounds of Eldersburg Maryland. We were part of different churchs, but besides that we were always up to something together. Now and days we aren’t anywhere near the same geographical position, but he still remains one of the closest people in my life. I literally talked with him for about 90 minutes and it felt like 10. Time just flew right by and we talked about everything that was happening and where we were at in life…(he keeps trying to convince me to move to Newport…maybe one day). This conversation was just a breath of fresh air. It just made me feel alive and it was something that I needed. Everytime i get to talk with him and the one week out of the year I get to hangout with him I never take for granted. It reminded me that all of us need to have those kinds of moments in our lives where when we might be a bit down, we do that thing that makes us come alive. Now I’m not saying talking to Nate is the only thing that makes me come alive, but it is one of them. Do you know what makes you come alive??? If you don’t I encourage you to find that thing, or one of those things and keep them consistant in your life, so you too can have a breath of fresh air.
