Well earlier today I was thinking about church culture in healthy and growing churches. I heard an analogy about how leaders in strong vibrant church cultures are like ducks. A bit weird i thought until the heard the analogy….( I was a bit disappointed that it had nothing to do with the Mighty Ducks). Ducks above the surface are calm, cool, and collected. They are stress free and there are no signs of them being frantic. Under the surface they are the opposite… Ducks feet move very quickly and they do everything they need to in order to stay afloat and move.
In the church world that is how we have to be. The church is about others and when we meet people they don’t want to see the stressed, worn out look on our faces. We need to be smiling and warm. People deserve our best and they won’t get it unless we learn how to move fast under the surface, but calm, cool and collected on the outside. Yes, there are things to get done, but it cannot come before the people we are there serve. Now lets jump in a pond and act like ducks… QUACK
